Jeff Meierhofer, Chairman of our volunteer Entrance Beautification Committee, reported that 11 people helped on Saturday to remove dead timber and weeds from Lake Creek Road to the Timber Lakes entrance gate. Thanks to those who showed up to help out. They made progress, and although there is more work to be done, it was a good beginning to the Entrance Beautifcation Project. The group has a total of 30 hours work that will be turned into the State for matching funds (fire) to determine if the State will help us with additional funding for common area brush removal.

We will continue to collect down and dead wood, remove noxious weeds, and prepare the red rock gardens for planting of wild flower andnative plants. Jeff’s group wants to continue the project and is asking for help from owners who can volunteer a little time. Please contact Jeff with the time and date you are available to assist on the project.

Also, if you are putting hours in to remove timber and brush around your lot, be sure to track your time and complete the form included in the last issue of the Timber Lakes Times to submit for Matching Funds.

You can contact Jeff at 435.785.8185 or call the office and Martha will give you his email address.

One of our owners, Jeff Meierhofer, is forming a committee to clean up and maintain the entrance to Timber Lakes. The area of concern is from Center Street/Lake Creek into our development up to the parking lot and wood collection area. Jeff is asking those interested in helping him to bring any tools (chainsaws, shovels, rakes, trailers to haul wood to the wood pile) they can think will be helpful to the Timber Lakes office at 9:30 am this Saturday, July 17. They will work until 12:30 pm and make assignments of future efforts. His ideas for cleanup include removing dead fall, pulling noxious weeds, planting the red rock garden in front of the mail house, etc. (Not all of this needs to be completed this Saturday.) Please call Jeff with any questions. He will be confirming with the land owner of the entrance area that this cleanup will be OK. The Board sincerely appreciates Jeff and other owners who are willing to get involved in helping to make Timber Lakes a great place to own property. Jeff Meierhofer, Lot 547, (435)-785-8185

We had status reports from the board members, heard an update from our County Councilor on the progress of the fire station, and elected three board members for three-year terms.

The two incumbent board members, Ole Smith and Shane Olson, were reelected and one new member, Milt Taylor, was elected.

Following the Annual Meeting, the board met and elected new officers for the fiscal year. Assignments were also juggled a bit. Here is the way things break down:

Compliance & External Relations Ole Smith
Compliance & Safety Andy Berry
Legal Rondo Fehlberg

Along with their other duties, Craig Allen will handle Risk Management & Insurance, Mike Durr will serve as the State Fire Liaison and handle Fire Safety and John Blickenstaff will continue to manage the Website.

Other assignments that will be made soon include Cabin Plan Approvals and the Newsletter.

We will update the website contact information. In the meantime, if you have a question, email it to one of the board members and we will make sure it gets to the right person.

This is what happens when we move too fast to fix a problem.

We want to maintain the secrecy of your ballot. To clarify the previous email, write your lot numbers on the return mail envelope, not the internal envelope you use to seal your ballot. When we check your lot numbers to make sure you are eligible to vote, we will write down the number of lots you own on the internal envelope. That way, when the ballots are unsealed, the election committee counting the votes will only see how many lots you are voting, and not the specific lot numbers you own.

Please be assured that those who open and count the ballots will not be able to identify you.

Craig Allen, Secretary

We inadvertently sent out incorrect instructions with our recent ballot mailing. If you own multiple lots, you do NOT need to submit one ballot form per lot. Simply write your lot numbers on the envelope into which you seal your ballot. When the ballots are unsealed and counted, you will be given credit for one cast ballot for each lot you own. Assuming you have paid up your financial account in full, you will get to vote each lot you own. We apologize for the confusion.

If you come to the Annual Meeting to vote in person, do not mail in your ballot. We will give you ballots at the meeting.

A dog was attacked on the west side of the development early this morning by what we think was a cougar. It is not unusual for wildlife to be in the development at this time of year, but all residents are advised to not allow their pets or young children to be outside alone, particularly during the dusk and dawn hours. DWR is aware of this, and the animal apparently roams in the area at the end of West View out to the LDS church property. If you see a cougar in the development, please call either DWR or the Sheriff (911), and then notify Security. Additional information about personal protection and who to call is provided at the following link: http://wildlife.utah.gov/cougar/pdf/cougar_brochure.pdf
