For your smartphone

Because I can’t sleep some nights, I have been playing with my smartphone. I know there are more urgent needs for our owners but I can’t work on those in the middle of the night because they require interaction with other people, who are asleep at the time. If you have a smartphone, I have something for you;  I have added support for smartphones at TimberLakesUtah.com.

If you use one of the following devices, you should be able to view the website in a mobile-optimized format:

  1. iPhone
  2. iPod Touch
  3. Android
  4. Storm
  5. Pre
  6. Certain Blackberry models
  7. Q

I have tested this on the iPhone, iPod Touch, Android,  Pre, some Blackberry models, and the Q. If you are using one of the other smartphones, I would appreciate you letting me know if our website is optimized on your device.

There is a pull down menu in the upper right corner allowing you to select website pages. From the pull down you can also select categories if you are looking for a particular post on the board blog.

For you techno geeks the following list identifies the user-agents supported by our website. If your smartphone uses one of these agents, the Timber Lakes website should be optimized for your device:

  1. android
  2. aspen
  3. blackberry9500
  4. blackberry9530
  5. cupcake
  6. dream
  7. incognito
  8. iphone
  9. ipod
  10. opera mini
  11. webmate
  12. webos

Have a great holiday!

Package Thefts, Part 3

The use of the office for the delivery of packages will end on December 31st. This temporary measure was implemented to address numerous thefts and to help members and their families have the secure delivery of packages for Christmas. We believed at the time that this was a reasonable solution. Unfortunately, there have been a few owners who complained that this prevented them from accessing their packages at a convenient time. This is also not a viable long term solution as it takes security away from the gate. On December 31st, these deliveries will resume at the mailhouse. We will be working with the County Sheriff to investigate any package thefts that are reported. We are also exploring other options for package delivery that do not place the Association at risk. In the meantime, members are encouraged to not have valuable items shipped to the mailhouse.

If you need to pick up a package, the last pickup on Christmas Eve will be at 8:00 pm.

Snowmobile stuff

The  snowmobile gate is now open. HOWEVER, please note the following:

  1. Access through the gate is restricted to Timber Lakes Owners and their accompanied guests. This means that you, the owner, have to be with them. “My Uncle in California is the owner and he told me I could do it” is not the same as accompanying your guests.
  2. There is not much snow. We have about 18 inches at the gate this evening. This means that there are lots of big rocks, posts, trees and other impediments. Please be cautious.
  3. Your snowmobiles must each have a current season Timber Lakes sticker affixed. If you have paid your assessments and any fines you may have incurred, in full, you, the owner, may purchase stickers for your snowmobiles at the security gate house or in the office. If your account is delinquent, you may not purchase stickers.
  4. If you are an owner, renting your snowmobiles, you must purchase a sticker for each rental machine.
  5. The speed limits in Timber Lakes apply to snowmobiles. Slow down. You can drive like a maniac when you are safely outside of the subdivision.
  6. Hundreds of thousands of your dollars have been spent this past summer by the Water Company (We are not the Water Company) laying pipe, installing fire hydrants and rebuilding miles of roads. We, the owners are paying for these improvements. Please do not allow your group to tear up the roads or try to drive through fire hydrants.
  7. There is NO PARKING anywhere in Timber Lakes except in your driveway, the parking lot at the office, and the small parking area at Duck Lake. The area at Duck Lake is for you to drop your snowmobiles trailers IF you cannot get to your driveway. Please don’t park your car or truck there. You cannot park at the vehicle maintenance building, or along the road anywhere, including the entrance area to the security gate. If you park where you are not supposed to park, you will be towed! Please be aware that we do not guarantee that we have a place for you to park if you are not in your own driveway. During the holiday season, we will not likely have sufficient parking for everyone who cannot get to their own driveway. If this is the case, you need to find your own legal parking outside of Timber Lakes.
  8. Pulling a trailer up or down Blue Spruce during the winter is prohibited. It is dangerous to try! Please don’t scoff at this just because you own a 4-wheel drive truck. People who ignore directive regularly block the road with a jack-knifed trailer. This causes your neighbors to generate intense negative feelings towards you. This happened today; please don’t be the cause of an accident or road block because you think this applies to everyone but you.
  9. We ask you to be considerate to our security team while you are here. If you get stopped and questioned, please be polite. If you have your stickers and are obeying the speed limit, your stop should be brief.

We hope you and your invited guests have fun in the winter weather at Timber Lakes.

    Package Thefts, Part 2

As a follow-up to the previous post we will have a person at the office for a few minutes on the half hour from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm Monday through Friday so you can retrieve your packages. We re-emphasize that this is only temporary and we are just trying to accommodate owners who already have Christmas packages on the way. We will post additional information about receiving packages once the dust (or snow) settles. In the meantime, please keep in mind that the Association does not and cannot guarantee the satisfactory delivery of your packages. Please contact me if you have concerns or comments.

    Package Thefts

Due to recent theft of packages from the Timber Lakes mailhouse, we are making the office available temporarily for package deliveries for the upcoming Christmas season. All UPS and Fedex packages are now being delivered to the office. They can be retrieved during normal office hours (9 am – 1 pm M-F). Photo identification will be required to pick up. Security will also be setting up a schedule to open the office periodically during the evening. This schedule will be posted at the mailhouse. We strongly suggest that if you are shipping anything of high value, send it signature required, and delivered to the UPS store in Heber City. The UPS store charges $3.00 per package. Please contact them at 435.654.9292 for the details.

We still need 2 board members

Property Owners, we still need to fill two vacant positions. We need your help to do that. Ideally we would prefer candidates with some experience in the vacant areas: One position, as Treasurer, would benefit from someone with experience in accounting, treasury, finance, or in running a business. The other position would benefit from someone with some background in construction or one of the associated trades. There is eight months left on one term, and 18 months on the other one.

We request any owner who is interested in helping us out on the board, to please email a resume to any board member. We also need you to complete this application form and return it to me. We need your help and thank you for considering this; we cannot run the mountain effectively with a reduced board.

    Roads closed to heavy traffic

Effective immediately, all Timber Lakes roads are closed to heavy traffic for the season. This means that vehicles in excess of 10,000 pounds will not be allowed into Timber Lakes. Propane delivery trucks are exempted from this provision, provided they are chained up. Package delivery trucks are also permitted to drive to the mailhouse. We will post a notice on the website when the roads are reopened in the Spring.

Also, please be aware that roads are extremely icy and dangerous during the winter months. Conditions are more slick during the first several snowstorms than during the heart of the winter. Please slow down and use caution. 4-wheel drive or chains are required. We have already had several vehicles slide off the road. Don’t let yours be the next one. You drive in Timber Lakes at your own risk; please don’t put someone else at risk by not taking winter driving seriously.
